Nonprofits By
the Numbers and Employment Reports
Maryland Nonprofits is proud to bring
you the 2004 edition of Nonprofits by the Numbers. The newly updated
version shows some encouraging and exciting trends in the nonprofit
sector. These statistics clearly show that Maryland's nonprofit
sector is not only growing in numbers, budget sizes are growing
as well.
Maryland's 501(c)(3) organizations
with budget sizes over $1 million have increased 13% over the last
two years while the number of 501(c)(3)'s has increased by only
12%. Although there is no clear geographical pattern to growth,
Montgomery County is the individual jurisdiction that has increased
the most in number of organizations. Baltimore county is the individual
jurisdiction that has increased the most in number of organizations
with budgets over $1 million.
To get the full picture
on the status of nonprofits in Maryland, we have provided two reports
for our consideration. The first, Maryland
Nonprofits By the Numbers 2004, is a statistical breakdown of
the nonprofit community on a county by county basis. The second
report, the 2004
Nonprofit Employment Update, shows the impact these organizations
are having on the state's economy.
