Dental Insurance

According to a poll done by Fringe Benefits and Working Conditions in Nonprofit Organizations, 60% of the organizations reported that they provide Dental Insurance.   Larger organizations were much more likely to offer the benefit than smaller ones.

Unlike most other programs that are available only to groups with more than ten employees, Maryland Nonprofits' Employee Benefit Trust Dental Insurance Programs are available to all member organzations regardless of size.

Maryland Nonprofits has two programs.  They are priced differently, have different network sizes, and require differing employee payments at time of service. Your agency always chooses which program it wants to offer to its employees.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Maryland Dental program provides comprehensive coverage for preventive and reconstructive dental procedures. Participating providers, over 2,800 statewide, bill Blue Cross Blue Shield. Payments made by Blue Cross Blue Shield are accepted as payment-in-full. If an employee chooses a provider that does not participate with Blue Cross Blue Shied, Blue Cross Blue Shield will make their usual payment and the employee will be responsible for the remainder. If a participating provider is used, coverage is 100% for Diagnostic and Preventive treatment, 80% for Surgical/Restorative after a $25 deductible, 50% for Prosthetics after a $25 deductible, and 50% for Orthodontics. This is a great plan if you have a kid in college. Your employees can include a 19-25 year old dependent student on Family Coverage.
  • JustDental uses a network of dentists to provide services. Currently there are approximately 260 dentists throughout the state from Cumberland to Pocomoke. Your employee will pay $3.00 per Oral Evaluation and there is no additional charge for diagnostic and preventive treatment. There is a stardard fee schedule for Surgical/Restorative/Prosthetic/Orthodontic procedures.
