Policy and Advocacy
Maryland
Nonprofits acts as a strong voice for the nonprofit sector. We do
everything from publicizing achievements and trends to hosting meetings
and state conferences to maintaining a strong presence in Annapolis.
Our Public Policy Committee and our in-house lobbyist actively
advocate to effect change while protecting and preserving the nonprofit
sector's interests on the local, state and federal levels.
Based on our four
principles for public policy action, we regularly market and publicize
the value of the nonprofit sector to the business community, the general
public, funders, and policy makers to further increase their awareness
of and appreciation for the sector and those who benefit from and
work within it. Our Maryland Budget and Tax Policy Institute
studies state fiscal policy to understand how it affects vulnerable
populations and community programs, and our Advocacy Leaders Program
works to increase knowledge and understanding among selected nonprofit
leaders of the strategies and methods of effective advocacy campaigns.
Maryland Nonprofits also provides additional support and resources
to help nonprofits enhance their role and impact as policy advocates.
