for Excellence Application Information
Modifications to the Newest Version of the Standards for Excellence Application Package and Checklist
The 2006 edition of the Standards for Excellence Application Package and Checklist is now available. This edition incorporates the following changes from the 2005 version of the application:
Governing Board:
- In the board minutes section, applicants are now asked to provide a full fiscal year’s worth of meeting minutes.
Human Resources
- A question was added about whether or not annual performance reviews are up-to-date for all staff.
Financial and Legal:
- A question was added to allow organizations to provide additional information about the financial health of the organization and it if will continue to stay in business in the future.
Fundraising:
- Two questions were added about organizations soliciting funds and registration in states other than Maryland.
- A question was added about special events revenue and expenses for the last three years.
- A question was added about sources of revenue for the past three years.
- A question was added about whether the organization receives support from a Type III supporting organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Code.
Public Policy and Public Affairs:
- Questions were added about the presence of paid lobbyists and their registration.
Disclosures:
- Three new documents are requested in this section, including: IRS determination letter, articles of incorporation and documentation indicating that the organization’s registration is in good standing with the Maryland Secretary of State’s office.
