Philip Symonds, CPA

BOARD MEMBER

Philip Symonds, CPA, was named Chief Financial Officer at Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. (CHAI) in 2017. Prior to joining CHAI, Phil served for more than fourteen years as a financial management consultant utilizing his 25 years of experience in the non-profit and government sectors and expertise in the financial management arena to focus on the needs of non-profit organizations. Phil was previously employed at Maryland Institute College of Art from 1992 to 2003, where he held the position of Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer from 2000 to 2003. He was Vice President for Finance at Planned Parenthood of Maryland from 1986 to 1992.

Following the completion of his MSW degree in Manpower Planning at West Virginia University in 1978, Phil joined the Baltimore County Occupational Training Administration as a planner, managing Department of Labor grants for locally operated employment and training programs that reached over $19 million annually. Phil graduated from Hofstra University with a BA degree in 1975. Phil has been an active member of the Maryland Association of CPA’s for over 20 years and is a member and former chairman of the MACPA Technology Committee.
