UNITED WAY OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL AREA

Overview

Since 1974, United Way NCA has worked to inspire acts of caring, deliver hope and improve lives. Focusing on the critical areas of education, financial stability and health, United Way NCA serves eight jurisdictions in the Greater Washington Region including the District of Columbia; Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax/Falls Church, Loudoun and Prince William counties in Virginia; and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland. Collaborations with more than 500 partner nonprofits, as well as corporate and community partners, create positive impact in the National Capital Area. United Way NCA supports a number of funding opportunities, capacity building trainings, and special projects, including Do More 24, an annual crowd-funding campaign. Recently, United Way NCA was selected to continue its work as the Grant-Making Partner for the D.C. Office of Out-of-School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes. Lastly, with the 2020 Census fast approaching, United Way NCA has taken a leadership role in the region informing, engaging and connecting community stakeholders to take action in support of the next decennial census. Local organizations may request to join United Way NCA’s network of nonprofits, which affords access to funding, programs, and services. United Way NCA coordinates donor-designated gifts through the Combined Federal Campaign and other corporate workplace giving programs. In addition, partners are eligible to apply directly to United Way NCA for a Community Impact grant in the focus areas of education, financial literacy, and health.

Target Audience

United Way NCA’s target audience is nonprofits with 501(c)3 status from the IRS. Additionally, for-profit companies, individuals, and government agencies looking to build relationships with the nonprofit sector.
