Consulting Spotlight: Howard County Health Department

February 3, 2016

By Wendy Wolff, Senior Consultant, Maryland Nonprofits

The Maryland Nonprofits Consulting Group offers creative and practical problem-solving expertise to address the complex challenges faced

in
the nonprofit sector.  In this Consulting Spotlight section, we highlight the inspiring work of our partners with whom we have collaborated with to achieve successful outcomes.

According to the World Health Organization (1998) and the Institute of Medicine (1988), public health is what we as a society do collectively to assure the conditions in which people can be healthy.  The role of the local public health department is to lead and direct this collective.

The vision of a high quality of life for Howard County residents is held by their local county health department as the public health team works tirelessly to promote, preserve and protect the health of all in the county.

Towards the end of 2015 and with the assistance of the Maryland Nonprofits Consulting Group, the Howard County Health Department successfully completed the development of their 2016-2021 Strategic Plan.  Their strategic priorities were decisively crafted to help the community reach the organization’s vision of being a model community in which health equity and optimal wellness are accessible for all who live, work and visit Howard County.

As their tactical implementation plan is being developed, HCHD staff continues to serve the community with a commitment to excellence in everything they do.

Congratulations on a job

well done
, Howard County Health Department!
