Heather Iliff Named President and CEO

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Heather Iliff, a Maryland Nonprofits veteran of seven years, has been appointed President and CEO. In this role, she also serves as President and CEO of the Standards for Excellence Institute. Heather has extensive experience in nonprofit capacity building, having held leadership roles at Alliance for Nonprofit Management and Open Society Institute-Budapest. She served as an elected member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education, and was later appointed to the County Executive’s Commission for Educational Excellence. At Maryland Nonprofits, Heather has been Senior Consultant, Director of the Consulting Group, Vice President, and most recently, Acting President and CEO.  

“Heather’s vision and energy will take our organization to new heights,” said Maryland Nonprofits board chair, Tom Hyatt. “Maryland Nonprofits is fortunate to have such a strong and dedicated leader ready to move our association forward at this important time in our history.”  

Maryland Nonprofits is the state association of nonprofit organizations in Maryland, a 501(c)3 charitable organization itself, and one of 36 such associations across the country.  Representing all types of nonprofit organizations, small and large, from across the State of Maryland, Maryland Nonprofits’ mission is to strengthen, educate and engage nonprofits so they can achieve their missions.  Maryland Nonprofits serves as a collective voice for nonprofits in Annapolis and on Capitol Hill, and works to advance the quality of life in Maryland.  Maryland Nonprofits founded and runs the national Standards for Excellence Institute, providing educational resources and credible third-party accreditation for nonprofit organizations. Membership is open to all nonprofit organizations, and associate membership is available for students, individuals, businesses and governmental agencies.
