Maryland Raises over $9 Million

Thank you to the individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and nonprofits in Maryland who generously contributed your time and money on #GivingTuesday 2014.

As of Friday, December 5, 2014, Maryland Nonprofits is proud to report that Marylanders donated over $9 million to nonprofits. You made this the most successful #GivingTuesday EVER. We’ve proven that Maryland DOES Give More. Marylanders should be proud of these awe-inspiring numbers:

  • The grand total for dollars raised in Maryland is $9,009,244.68. That’s approximately 20% of the estimated $45.7 million raised nationally.

  • Volunteers donated a total of 7,311 hours.

  • Over 310 nonprofits from every county in the state participated in the #MarylandGivesMore campaign.

“We are inspired by the way Marylanders came together to strengthen our communities and advance our quality of life,” said Maryland Nonprofits Acting President & CEO, Heather Iliff. “We all benefit from the critical work of nonprofit organizations that save lives, advocate for those without a voice, educate children and adults, enrich us through the arts, protect our environment, and promote justice.”

Henry Timms, #GivingTuesday Founder and Executive Director of the 92nd Street Y, offered a congratulatory message, “Maryland came together in an inspiring statewide show of generosity. We look to successes like Maryland as examples of how cities and states, large and small, can rally a generous community around a bigger goal.”

Spearheading the #MarylandGivesMore campaign in 2014, Maryland Nonprofits is honored to serve our members and the entire nonprofit community in Maryland. We are truly humbled by the final results.
