April Lugo started her career at Johns Hopkins Medicine where she worked to provide content expertise and programmatic support to institutional leadership and HR to recruit, promote, retain, and engage those underrepresented in medicine, science, nursing, and healthcare administration.

She has worked on improving language concordant care for patients with limited English proficiency and has done extensive work around achieving equitable outcomes for sexual, gender, racial, and ethnic minorities. In 2021, Lugo started a new role at the Allstate Corporation as Chief of Staff and Inclusive Diversity and Equity (IDE) Senior Manager, where she manages IDE Operations. She believes that diversity and inclusion is essential to the success of an organization and is a critical driver for innovation.

April sits on the Board of Directors for The Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) Baltimore Chapter as Vice President of Operations and the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake. She currently holds a Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University and is an MBA candidate at Carnegie Mellon University School of Business.
