Baltimore Emergency Response Meeting

April 29, 2015

Dear Colleagues,

We are all deeply concerned about the violence in Baltimore, its effect on all people and especially vulnerable residents. During times of crisis, coming together to communicate and share information is so important. Maryland Nonprofits will host a conference call and an in-person meeting for organizations providing services and programs in Baltimore that are seeking to share information and get information about the response to the crisis. See below for more information:

IN-PERSON MEETING:  THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 10:15AM – 12:00PM

1500 Union Ave, Baltimore, Lower Level, Dial 2500 for entry. (Park on Buena Vista Avenue, note that the conference rooms are on the north side of the building, not the residences that are along Union Mill Ave side.)

Please RSVP here:  http://fluidsurveys.com/s/rsvp-baltimore-emergency-response/

The conference call on Wednesday will offer an informal opportunity for organizations to share what they are experiencing in the community, to ask questions, and to provide input into what would be most helpful for the in-person meeting on Thursday.

The meeting on Thursday will include Steven McAdams of the Governor’s Office on Community Initiatives to discuss resources the state has to offer. A. Adar Ayira of Associated Black Charities will speak about the importance of countering the prevailing narrative pointing to a few “criminals” and “thugs” and to raise the dialogue about underlying issues that have led to the violence. The meeting will include time for dialogue on how organizations are responding, and how we can help each other.

If you are unable to make it, we will plan on live-streaming the event on YouTube here:  https://youtu.be/jukNaLVoy24

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,
