POLICY ALERT – IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED: Pharmaceutical Pricing Transparency Bills

March 1, 2017

PLEASE ACT NOW!  House Bills 631 and 666 would create transparency in the pricing of high-cost generic drugs and also give the Attorney General the power to investigate and enjoin or punish price gouging. These bills are critical in beginning to control exorbitant pharmaceutical pricing to consumers (and employer health plans).  Maryland Nonprofits strongly supports these bills.

The drug industry is doing everything it can to oppose these

bills,

and has offered amendments to neutralize the anti-gouging bill, that will be discussed tomorrow in a workgroup of the House Health and Government Operations Committee.

It is critical that as many organizations and individuals as possible contact members of that committee immediately (the names and contact information can be found through the link above) and ask them to OPPOSE the amendments submitted by PHARMA and opposed by Attorney General Brian Frosh.
